Carroll Shelby, one of America’s greatest race car drivers, dominated sports car racing in the mid-1950s and was Sports Illustrated’s “Driver of the Year” twice. His crowning achievement as a driver came in 1959, when he won the grueling 24 hours of Le Mans.
When he retired from racing in 1960 due to a heart ailment, Carroll Shelby began a new chapter in his storied career. In 1962, he forged a relationship with Ford Motor Company that created performance magic. Attracting talented individuals from California’s aerospace community and tapping the resources of Ford, he founded Shelby American to create the legendary Cobra sports car; a bit of this sports car’s “DNA” is a part of every subsequent Shelby vehicle. Can I get my vehicle modified by Shelby-trained technicians?
Yes. 2005 or later Mustangs can be modified at the Shelby American Inc., facility in Las Vegas. It’s here that Shelby-trained technicians, led by Gary Davis, VP of Production and Product Development at Shelby American can change Mustangs into Shelby performance vehicles. In addition, owners of genuine Shelby GT500’s can send their cars to have the “Super Snake” or 40th Anniversary package applied to their car. The Terlingua package can be applied to a 2005 and newer V6 Ford Mustang, also. Beginning in 2010, Shelby will also build a limited number of 2011 MY Shelby GT350’s also.

Do I have to send my vehicle the Las Vegas facility for modifications?
Shelby American has established a series of authorized “Shelby Mod Shops” across the United States. Tasca Ford in Rhode Island, Sean Hyland in Canada and Quantum Performance in Texas are the first locations. However, Shelby GT350’s will only be built at the Las Vegas facility.
What is the Terlingua Racing Team program?
Shelby American signed an agreement with Terlingua Racing Team co-founder Bill Neale to return it to the spotlight in 2007. Together, they launched a series of high performance Terlingua Racing Team packages for the 1967 Ford Mustang, 1965 Shelby Cobra and 2005-2009 Ford Mustang. In addition, the team created parts, memorabilia and events that celebrate the rowdy Terlingua Racing Team spirit.
